These action figures have no time for your gender norms.
Paul Feig, director of the all-female Ghostbusters reboot, gave us a sneak peek at Mattel’s 6-inch action figures of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones on Twitter:

As we’ve seen again and again lately, the toy industry seems committed to alienating half of all consumers. See also: Star Wars Monopoly. Or Star Wars action figures in general. Or Avengers hero Black Widow. Or Guardians of the Galaxy hero Gamora.
Hey, toy industry. Stop that.
This collection of Ghostbusters action figures is particularly welcome since it’s also the first time Ghostbusters toys have been released in conjunction with one of the movies. The only toys released for the original 1984 film and its 1989 sequel first surfaced in 2009, after Mattel picked up the rights.
Feig’s Ghostbusters will change that, and its four female stars get to lead the charge. The remake will be released on July 22, 2016.
Now about that trailer we’re still waiting to see….
