Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy is either really, really good at social media or he’s just the nicest sportsman in the world. After he shared a Facebook update about his trip to Shanghai on Tuesday, lots of people starting commenting on his post to leave him messages of support or make random requests — but unlike a lot of famous people, Rory actually made the effort to respond to them.
Had a fun time yesterday in Shanghai. Listened to music with my friends from Bose and then gave a golf clinic to all my fans from Nike Golf. Excited for the HSBC Champions this week.

After joking about golfing lessons and then offering to send a signed photo to a man who said his four year-old son was a budding golfer, McIlroy received a cheeky message from a guy called Barry Edwards, asking if he could have one of Rory’s old drivers.
And ten minutes later, Rory replied.
Barry couldn’t quite believe it, but Rory assured him it was no joke.
Unsurprisingly, the whole thing went down well with Rory’s fans.
What a lovely chap.
