Gone are the days of standing at the counter while waiting for your Big Mac. McDonald’s is rolling out table service and gourmet burgers to hundreds of its restaurants across the UK.
McDonald’s has also revealed plans to increase the number of locations that sell its “signature collection” — a range of gourmet burgers comprised of brioche buns and thicker patties that have been approved by Michelin-starred chefs— from 30 to 60 restaurants in the next six weeks.
Faced with growing competition from high-quality burger brands like Shake Shack and Five Guys, McDonald’s’ step towards gourmet burgers is by no means coincidental.
According to Paul Pomroy, CEO of McDonald’s UK, a trial of this up-scale experience was successful in 14 restaurants across England.
Time to rest those weary legs, people!
