Is Eminem going to hit the stage as part of N.W.A? Dr. Dre and Ice Cube may team up with Slim Shady, who will serve as an honorary member of their famous rap group from the late ’80s, for one epic reunion tour.
“I was there. But I was just leaving, so I didn’t know what happened until I was halfway home,” Dre said. “I heard about it over the phone. Everybody was supportive everywhere we went, and we didn’t have one issue throughout the entire filming of the movie. It’s crazy that this happened during the f–king filming of the commercial.”
Cube, who wasn’t on the set, simply said, “It’s the dangerous part of living in South Central. Some people don’t care if you’re making a movie or not. It’s unfortunate because the movie is so good, so creative, so many talented people involved.”
“It’s just a really unfortunate incident,” Dre added. “Maybe [Knight] was looking for trouble. I don’t know.”
“Hopefully the movie inspires new artists to be outspoken about anything that we are frustrated with,” Ice Cube said.
“Music does have the power to move people,” he continued. “So hopefully this inspires young artists not to be afraid to say what they feel, do what they feel, do it how they want to do it and not be subjected to the social parameters that’s out there. Do what you feel and let the art speak for itself.”
Straight Outta Compton hits theaters Aug. 14.
