Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta, elegance lessons at the New York Fashion Week
The 2017 Spring/Summer collection of the designers Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera offered a lesson of elegance on the New York Fashion Week’s bridge. At the Frick Gallery in Upper East Side, in a decor that seemed very faraway of the Big Apple, Herrera showed again why she is considered one of the queens of elegance. In her new collection the ‘denim’ is very present, showing how an informal and without personality material can become impeccable when is tailored with artistry. The legendary wrap evening dresses that let the shoulders denuded and that are caught around the neck with a bow, or the futuristic plated dresses were present on the podium.
The note of elegance continued with the parade of the Oscar de la Renta designer. The long HOCO dress with ladders on the waist that elongated until the ground offering a maxi effect or forming a trail, were the most applauded ones. The white princess dresses with luxurious embroideries for the big occasions, revealing the feminine silhouette, like the dress worn by one of the moment models, the Danish Josephine Skriver were also presented. No wonder that Oscar de la Renta is one of the favorite fashion houses of the stars. The deux-pieces with a tight skirt and fine belt that marks the waist were also appreciated. They give a very elegant day look that sends us back in the ’50s, a style that makes us think of the muses that inspired Alfred Hitchcock like Grace Kelly or Tippi Hedren. It was the last collection with the participation of Peter Copping, the one who was named creation director of the fashion house before the death of de la Renta. In this edition of the NY Fashion Week many celebrities could be seen, such as: the Hilton sisters, Coco Rocha, Kelly Osbourne and Chiara Ferragni.
