I graduated from college a while back, but there are still things I need to learn often to perform the work I do. The things I need to learn do not require me to go back to a university to learn them however. Many things can be learned online now.
There are a few websites you can go to online where you can learn everything from how to write well, to how to code a website. One of my favorites, and the best one I have used so far, is Udemy.
Some of the classes I have taken were for my own personal development, but I also participated in a company course once. That was pretty cool. They were able to buy that course for all of us. One of our department’s goals was to actually complete the course.
Udemy was founded in 2010 by Eren Bali, Oktay Caglar and Gagan Biyani. The site brings together two worlds, one of expertise (teachers) and one of students eager to learn. There are around 20,000 experts on just about every topic (over 40,000+ courses) who actually sell their courses to you directly.
I have taken 23 courses, and I have been pleasantly surprised by how well each of them were constructed, and by how much I learned. It’s great for anyone looking to enhance their skillset for work — or for anyone looking to branch out into new areas of their field or different fields to expand their career options. I even learned how to play guitar on Udemy!
I really like having the ability to review teachers too. Ratings and reviews of the courses help potential students (like me!) find the right course for the right price. And there are a lot of students. 11,000,000+ students. With over 9,000,000 minutes of video content in 80+ course languages, Udemy has a growing mass of content for people all over the world.
Another great thing – they have frequent sales so you can buy courses at discounted prices. In fact, they have one going on right now for 25% off. If you are like me and you want to learn more about almost anything, at least go check them out.
