A project of clouds and artificial rain production will be tested in Vietnam
A project of ‘clouds seeding’ and of artificial rain production, will be tested next month in Vietnam. The technological company Sinh Xanh Science from Da Nang proposed to the government of this country a $224 million allocation to buy ships and airplanes needed to ‘make’ artificial rain in order to combat the drought and to prevent the flooding. The general director of the company, Phan Dinh Phuong, stated that the ships will pump the salt water in the pipelines situated at a height of about 5 kilometers with the help of the helicopters or with the help of the balloons. The pipelines will unload the water in the areas with the most clouds over the sea, and the heaviest of them will provoke rains in these areas, and in this way the flooding in the urban areas will be avoided. Phuong said that, for this project, 100 stations that will benefit from the presence of airplanes and ships in the area of the Beib Bay are needed. The ministries and the profile sectors will talk about the trial implementation of this artificial rain production in Da Nang project, in October, added Phuong.
The Vietnamese minister of science and technology stated that this project is feasible. The company will also use chemical substances locally produced that will be sprayed on the mountain peaks to produce rain. The artificial creation of the clouds is a form of intervention on the weather and represents the attempt of modifying the type or the quantity of precipitations that falls from these, by dispersing in the air of some substances in order to produce condensation, which intervenes in the micro-physical processes from the clouds. Worldwide, the most used chemical substances to create the clouds are the solid carbon dioxide, the carbonic ice, the potassium iodide and the silver iodide.
